ALINCO DJ-C1 DATA

The DJ-C1 is an amateur radio “credit card” transceiver with VFO & 21 channels (1-20 + CALL). Has built-in microphone on front; requires external earphone or speaker-mike (2.5 mm plug). Transmits 0.3 W 144-148 MHz, receives 136-174 FM & 118-136 AM, via integral lithium-ion battery. The extend-able (& breakable!) antenna must be in fully extended position & straight up when transmitting.

TO TURN UNIT ON, SET VOLUME & SQUELCH, AND TRANSMIT:
Power up with PWR OFF-ON Switch on top left. Transmit via PTT on left; red LED confirms.
Push VOL/SQL(RPT) once for Volume. Use UP/DOWN to set volume from 1 (low) to 8 (high).
Push VOL/SQL(RPT) a second time to set Squelch from 0 (open) to 5 (tight); normally “1.”

TO SELECT FREQUENCY:
To cycle between VFO & Memory Modes, push V/M(MW). Memory Mode is indicated by M & Channel Number in Display; VFO Mode by frequency only. Tune via UP or DOWN keys.
To tune VFO in 1 MHz steps, push F briefly until F appears in Display & use UP or DOWN keys.
To scan frequencies/channels, push & hold UP or DOWN. Any key stops. Decimal blinks & unit beeps markers when tuning/scanning: double (tone rising or falling) at MHz, single at 0.5 MHz.
To change tuning step, while in VFO Mode push F briefly & use UP/DOWN keys. PTT sets.

TO SET REPEATER OFFSET:
In VFO Mode, push F briefly, then VOL/SQL(RPT) to cycle among +, -, & Simplex.
Then use UP/DOWN to select offset frequency. PTT sets.

TO SET PL TONES:
In VFO Mode, push & hold F until F blinks, then use VOL/SQL(RPT) to turn T on/off.
Use UP/DOWN keys to select one of 39 subaudible transmit tones. Push PTT to set.

TO ENTER A FREQUENCY IN A MEMORY CHANNEL:
In Memory Mode, select channel to be programmed. Then push V/M(MW) to enter VFO Mode.
Select characteristics (rcv. freq, offset, PL Tone on/Off, tone freq). Push F then V/M(MW) to set.
To program Call, push Call(Step) to go to Call Mode, push F, then V/M(MW). “C” blinks. Select characteristics (freq, offset, PL Tone on/off, tone freq). Push V/M(MW) to set.
In normal tuning or scanning of memories, only channels programmed with a frequency are shown. To display all channels including unprogrammed channels, push F, then tune via UP/DOWN.
To erase a memory, select channel, push F, then V/M(MW).

TO DEACTIVATE SQUELCH MOMENTARILY: Push MONITOR. Same cancels. (If an offset has been selected, unit receives the reverse frequency; “Busy” blinks in Display while reverse monitor on.)

TO CHANGE TUNING STEPS:
In VFO Mode, push F, then Call(Step), then use UP/DOWN to select tuning step. PTT sets.

TO USE BATTERY SAVE MODE AND RECHARGE INTEGRAL LITHIUM-ION BATTERY:
Push & hold F until F blinks, then push DOWN. Display shows “bS.on” or “bS.off.” PTT sets.
Recharging Li-Ion battery requires regulated 4.27 V via EDH-26 with external DC 9-12 VDC via EDC-76. Green LED = Charging. Off = Charged. Red (for more than 1-2 seconds) = Problem.

TO RESET ALL SETTINGS (channel memories are lost): Hold in F & V/M(MW) while turning on.
