Function Keys (Front Panel)

Located between the tuning dial and band selectors.

  • Normal Functions: F, TONE, REV (reverse), LOW

  • After pressing [F]: OFF, Tone Select, SHIFT, VISUAL

  • “1s” means: Hold the key for 1 second.


Key Functions

[CALL]

  • CALL – Recalls call memory

  • CALL1s – Monitors call & memory, or call & VFO

  • F + CALL – Stores currently displayed frequency settings into call memory

[VFO]

  • VFO – Recalls the VFO

  • VFO1s – VFO or programmable band scan

  • VFO1s + MHZ – Starts 1 kHz scan

  • PowerOn + VFO – Partial reset (verify with VFO). Memory channels are not erased.

[MEM]

  • MEM – Recalls most recently used memory (beep on channel #1)

  • MEM1s – Memory scan

  • F + MEM – Store current displayed frequency into selected memory

  • F + MEM1s + frequency + MEM – Store odd split

  • PowerOn + MEM – Clear all memory (verify with MEM)

  • MHZ – 1 MHz tuning of VFO (press again to turn off)

  • F + MHZ – 10 MHz tuning of VFO (press F again to cancel)

  • MHZ1s – Enable AM mode (MHZ toggles AM/FM)

  • F + MHZ – Key lock

  • PowerOn + MHZ – All lock

  • PowerOn + MHZ + MEM – Erase currently selected memory (cannot erase channel #1)

[TONE]

  • TONE – CTCSS Tone; press again to enable tone squelch (beep = no tone)

  • F1s + TONE – Select tone frequency (use Enter + 2-digit CTCSS number from table)

  • TONE1s – Search for CTCSS tone

  • F + TONE – DTSS; press again for DTSS squelch (beep = no DTSS)

  • F1s + REV – Set 3-digit DTSS code (can use mic keypad)

[REV]

  • REV – Listen to repeater input

  • REV1s – Auto simplex checker (cancel with REV)

  • F + REV – Repeater shift (+/–/simplex) (beep = simplex)

[LOW]

  • LOW – Power level (beep = High)

  • F1s + LOW – Set frequency step size

  • PowerOn + LOW – In memory mode, only memory number is displayed

[PM]

  • PM# – Select 1 of 4 memories (tied to function keys)

  • F + PM# – Store 1 of 4 PM memories

  • Auto PM Store – Menu #4.4

  • PowerOn + CALL – Clear PM memories (verify with CALL)


Other Front Panel Functions

  • F + Menu – Auto band select (cancel with PTT or Band Select)

  • F + CONT – Select VHF/VHF or UHF/UHF

  • F + Band Select – Disable selected band

  • PowerOn + F – Demo mode


Commonly Used Menu Options

  • Scan Resume Mode – Menu #8 (Time or Carrier)

  • Advanced Intercept Point (AIP) – Menu #9 (On/Off, default Off)

  • Auto Power Off (APO) – Menu #10 (On/Off, default Off)

  • Time Out Timer – Menu #11 (3, 5, or 10 minutes; default 10)

  • Beep Volume – Menu #14.1

  • Speaker Configuration – Menu #14.2

  • Enable Voice Synth – Menu #14.3 (Japanese, English, Off)


Microphone PF Keys

  • Reassigning PF Keys:

    1. Hold down a PF key during power-up.

    2. Press a front panel key to assign it to that PF key.

  • Examples:

    • PTT → PF toggles between VFO and MEM

    • VHF → PF toggles between VHF and UHF

  • Menu Controls:

    • Menu #16.1 – Microphone control

    • Menu #16.2–16.5 – Reassign mic PF keys

    • PF Options: User / Monitor / Enter / Voice / Power (Power for PF1 only)
