The k2 front panel is aranged as follows.

Starting from the left, is a double column of three buttons
each.
Immediately under this column is the 8-pin mic jack, and a
1/8 inch headphone jack.

Next to these toward the bottom is a double column of two
knobs each.
To the right of these is the main tuning knob. This is approximately
centered
in the front panel.
At approximately the 5:00 position of the tuning knob is a
single button.
On the right side of the panel is a 9-key pad arranged like
that on a
touchtone phone.
Under the keypad is a single knob, and the power button. This
button is a
latching pushbutton, and sticks out much further than all
other buttons.
Finally, above the bank of four knobs and the tuning knob
is the display.

Note:
All k2 buttons accept for the power control, display, and
zero have
two functions. These are accessed by tapping the button, or
holding it in
for approximately 1 second. In the list below, the tap function
will be
followed by a colon “:” followed by the hold function.
There are no beeps to confirm button presses.

note: three functions are given here. The first is the numeric
digit
when in direct entry mode; the second is the tap function;
and finally
the hold function.
Direct entry mode is entered by pressing the band- and band+
buttons
simultaneously. This can be a bit tricky, sometimes you get
one or the
other function. This however, will be readily apparent because
you will
not only hear it switch bands, but you will hear all the internal
relays
clicking. Just try again.

two switch combinations

There are two two-switch combinations used in the k2. The
first is
band- + band+ mentioned above. This puts you in direct frequency
entry mode.
When in this mode, the only odity is for frequencies in the
160 meter band.
When entering these frequencies, they must be preceded with
the leading zero,
i.e. 01810.
There is no decimal point, frequencies can only be entered
to the nearest
kc.

The second combination is pre/att + agc. This turns agc on
or off.
