ALINCO DJ-S11 DATA
The DJ-S11 is a handheld 2M FM amateur radio transceiver with 20 channels (0-19) + CALL Channel; transmits up to 0.45 W on 144-148 MHz (receives 136-174) via 3 internal AA batteries or 4.5 VDC ex-ternal supply. The Battery icon in upper right corner of Display flashes when battery voltage is low. The folding antenna must always be in fully extended position & straight up when transmitting.
TO TURN UNIT ON & SET AUDIO VOLUME: Use DIAL on top right.
TO SELECT FREQUENCY:
To cycle between VFO & Memory Modes, push V/M(MW). Memory
Mode is indicated by M & Channel Number in Display; VFO
Mode by frequency only. Tune via UP or DOWN keys.
To tune VFO in 1 MHz steps, push F (lowest button on left
side of case) & UP or DOWN key.
To tune VFO in 100 kHz steps, push F twice & UP or DOWN
key.
To Scan frequencies/channels, push & hold V/M(MW) or SCAN/SHIFT.
UP or DOWN, held in 1 second, changes scan direction. Same
or PTT deselects. When audio tones activated, unit emits beeps
as markers when tuning/scanning: double beep (rising or falling)
at MHz, single at 0.5 MHz.
TO SET REPEATER OFFSET. Push & hold F & push SCAN/SHIFT. Again push SCAN/SHIFT to cycle among +, -, & Simplex. Push PTT to set. “T” appears in Display when PL tone is turned on.
TO SET PL TONES:
Push & hold F & push DOWN. Again push DOWN to select
one of 50 subaudible transmit tones.
Push & hold F & push DOWN to turn tone on/off (indicated
by “T” in Display) Push PTT to set.
TO ENTER A FREQUENCY IN A MEMORY CHANNEL:
Enter VFO Mode & select characteristics (frequency, offset,
PL Tone On/Off, tone frequency).
Push & hold F & V/M(MW); use UP or DOWN key to select
desired channel. (M & Channel Number/C flash in Display
on channels not yet programmed.) Push V/M(MW) to set memory.
To erase memory, select channel, push & hold F & V/M(MW),
again push & hold F & V/M(MW).
TO SET TRANSMIT POWER: While transmitting, push SCAN/SHIFT. Confirmed by L in Display.
TO DEACTIVATE SQUELCH MOMENTARILY: Push MONI.
TO USE LAMP: Push LAMP (second button from bottom on left side of case) momentarily.
TO SET BEEPS:
TRANSMIT ALERT: While transmitting, push UP or DOWN. Alternate
this tone between a 1750 Hz steady tone & a telephone
ring tone by holding in CALL/BELL while turning unit on. The
tone selected for transmission is replicated in the speaker
of the DJ-S11.
AUDIO TONES (receive alarm, key strokes): Hold in MONITOR
while turning on. Same cancels.
RECEIVE ALARM (Carrier activates 3 “telephone”
rings): Push & hold F & push CALL/BELL. This setting
self-cancels after one ringing cycle and must be manually
reset if desired again for later.
TRANSMIT GO-AHEAD: Hold in UP while turning on power. Same
with DOWN cancels.
TO RESET ALL SETTINGS (channel memories are lost): Hold in
F while turning on POWER.
