Sound Studio, 3.5.7 Guide Vol. 002

Editing Hints

You must edit with Cursor tracking off. Toggle cursor tracking off and on with VO keys-shift-f3.

Here is a way to select a portion of audio you wish to work with. You can move through, or, scrub through the audio with the number 2 on the keyboard to move forward and 1 to move backward through the file. when you're on or near the point at which you wish to start your selection, press pause. you can adjust or fine tune your position by using the left and right arrow keys, command-- and command-= will vary the increment in which the arrow keys adjust. Once you've got your start point fine tuned, press command-m to mark. Scroll or play through the file till you reach the end of where you wish the selection to be and again press command-M to set the end marker of your selection.
Now, go into the "set selection" dialog box with command-shift-g. Here you'll notice a number of edit boxes and pop-up menu items, its the pop-up menu items you will be using. One will be next to the start of selection edit box and the other next to the end of selection edit box, these pop-up boxes can be made so that the start selection point is set to marker 1 (start of selection) and end marker set to marker 2 (end of selection) so set them accordingly and press ok.
Now you have a portion of data selected so you can do a variety of things here as you would expect, copy it to the clipboard for pasting to a new window, trim or crop, delete the selection etc.
