lected Functions of ADI AR-146 Transceiver

The AR-146 is an amateur radio two-meter mobile-style transceiver. Receives 130-180 MHz; transmits 144-148 MHz (all FM), via VFO & 40 memory channels. Some programming functions require Function button to be pressed momentarily, some require F to be pushed for 1 second+.

TO USE VFO MODE:
VFO/M-V (top left button on front) selects VFO. Tune via Main Tuning Dial or UP/DN buttons on microphone.
To change frequency in 1 MHz steps, push MHz (third button from top left). Same cancels.
Repeater Offset is set via SHFT/REV button (middle of 5 buttons below Display). Cycles through -, +, & SIMPLEX (no indication in Display).
To set tuning step, enter VFO mode, push Function for 1 second+, then push SHFT/REV button. Then use Main Tuning Dial or UP/DN buttons on microphone to cycle among 5, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25, or 50 kHz steps. Push F or any front panel button to set & return to VFO.

TO SET CTCSS (PL/SUBAUDIBLE TONE):
Go to VFO Mode, push Function for 1 second+, then push TONE button. Select tone with Main Tuning Dial or UP/DN buttons. Push F or any front panel button to set.
TONE cycles among T (transmit PL tone), T.SQ (transmit & receive tone squelch ), & off.

TO RECALL MEMORY CHANNELS:
MR/M (second from left top button on front) selects Memory Mode. Tune via Dial or UP/DN.

TO ENTER A FREQUENCY IN A MEMORY CHANNEL:
Enter VFO Mode & select frequency & any offset or subaudible tone desired.
Push Function. The “F” Indication & a Memory Channel will appear. Select desired Channel using Dial or UP/DN buttons. Then push MR/M Button. A long beep confirms channel entry.
CALL allows one-push selection of a commonly-used frequency. To select Call Channel, complete initial steps above; but after pushing F, push CALL.

TO SCAN:
Push & hold VFO or MR one second to start scanning respective modes. Any panel key stops.
To Lock Out a memory channel from scanning, select it, push Function for 1 second+, then push MR. (“SKP” appears in Display). Same cancels.

TO REVERSE TRANSMIT/RECEIVE FREQUENCIES WHEN IN OFFSET: Push REVerse.

TO ENTER MEMORY OR CALL FREQUENCY INTO VFO:
Select desired memory, push F, then push VFO.

TO SELECT TRANSMIT OUTPUT POWER:
Low (second button from top right) cycles among High (50W), Medium (10W), & Low (5W).

TO TURN AUDIO BEEP ON/OFF: Push Function for 1 second+, then push DTMF.
